Over 25 million people are affected by diabetes in this country. We spend $116 billion treating diabetes and it accounts for another $58 billion in disability, work loss and early mortality. Complications of diabetes includes heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, diseases of the eye, kidney and nervous system, complications of pregnancy and dental disease. It is the 7th leading cause of death in this country and at our current trend 1 in 3 U.S. adults will have diabetes by 2050. In short, it represents an enormous burden to individuals with the disease as well as society as a whole. And yet, we understand what causes diabetes and more importantly how to prevent it. At the clinic we take an aggressive proactive and preventive approach in screening for the early signs of diabetes in all our patients as well as employing the best known treatments for existing diabetes. This involves a comprehensive and integrated approach to address nutritional needs, inflammation, healthy weight loss, counseling and coaching, hormone balancing, detoxification, and normalization of gastrointestinal function.
